Innovations

2080 Ventures helped Hyundai find out which 10 high-potential Korean startups across each major business unit get an MVP that could get traction in the overseas market.

Hyundai, is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, South Korea.

The Challenge

Hyundai was established as a critical innovation backer for startups in Korea, pursuing startups that could enhance its new product and business unit. However, while the innovation team was highly active in meeting startups, it needed guidance on structuring and prioritizing its startup-facing activities, filtering through to the right startups to engage, and obtaining internal buy-in with the right business unit partners to execute in MVP product that could get traction in the oversea market (US).

What We Provided

Startup Bootcamp: a 3-week program that allowed Hyundai to engage 10 high-potential Korean startups across each major business unit, culminating in a Demo Day in the USA that drew 300+ attendees, including 84+ executives.

Operational support and program management, serving as advisors during the scoping and testing process for high-potential startups identified via the accelerator.

Outcomes
  • Enhanced access to the US innovation ecosystem.
  • Hyundai’s team received ongoing in-depth insights on how the 10 startups and their technologies can get traction in the oversea market in the US.
